Very horribly organised Pujas and the lunch and dinner buffets were terrible in taste, the quality of the food was very pathetic and so was the quantity served. Many of the residents would agree with me. The quality of Durga puja has deteriorated severely compared to past years. I feel that the funds were misused and not spent completely. Also one very important thing i want to say is that, Durga Puja is very iconic and symbolic of the rich Bengali culture, nowhere the significance of Bengali culture and rituals were reflected in the ceremonies and functions. All kinds of cheap hindi songs and dances of poor taste were performed which do not match anywhere to the Bengali culture. it was more of a Marwari oriented puja. For the Marwaris by the Marwaris and absolutely humiliating. And everyday in the evening people were fighting right next to the main stage, few men and women were getting into violent display of words and physical brawls which was very distasteful. The opening ceremony guest, the so called Pota was humiliated on and off the stage. This Durga puja stands as a big black blotch and disgrace on the spotless records of the glorious Durga pujas which Diamond City West had celebrated in the past few yrs. Moreover a few events which were organised by Telegraph could not be conducted properly due to non availability of the stage. The main stage solely served purpose to the dance numbers by the Marwaris. I could not hear a single decent Bengali song to be played not even for once. Also in certain contests by the Telegraph the results declared were not fair as the jury seemed relatives with the participants and had more vested interest and showed partiality and showered favors to some contestants. Most of the contests which had internal jury has biased judgement. I am not some racist anti Marwari clan, but Durga puja is an essentially Bengali festival, which was not celebrated the right way. We Bengalies wait for the Durga Puja through out the year with great anticipation and excitement and I am extremely sorry to say that we dont want our festival of joy excitement and pleasure to be dampened by such kind of poorly organised function.
I apologize once agn as I dont want to hurt feelings and sentiments of the readers. Thank you.
