Established On the Year: 2005

Short History:  Mahatirtham Durgotsav was started by few families living in the small locality of Mahatirtham alongside the EM Bypass in Madurdaha in 2005. This fairly peaceful neighborhood takes its pride in being a represented by people from various backgrounds including businessmen, professionals and high ranking government officials. People of Mahatirtham passionately indulge in celebrating various occasions, be it national holidays like Independence and Republic day or local celebrations including all pujas, Rabindranath and Najrul jayanti, Doljatra etc. These occasions are celebrated with full participation of our members, their families and children with great enthusiasm and fervor.

This year Mahatirtham Durgotsav is stepping into its 8th year and it sometimes it makes us wonder how far we have come and how we have grown over the years. We have grown from an association of few households to being a full-fledged organization in the name of Mahatirtham Citizens Forum with around 200 members. 

Theme for the year 2012 - GO GREEN... ZERO EMISSION DURGA PUJA !!

Short Description about the Puja 2012:

This year is special to all of us as we at Mahatirtham have taken a pledge to do our bit to protect our environment by planning a Zero Emission and Eco-Friendly durgotsav. This year the puja pandal has been designed using solar panels and will be able to generate all the electricity required to illuminate the area during the four days of durga puja. Interiors will be done using re-cycled and re-usable materials. LED lights will be used for decoration of the pandal as well as streets which will run on electricity generated by the solar cells.
